Welcome to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Energy & Water Management Program website.  This site is an initiative of the Office of Asset Enterprise Management (OAEM) and the Green Management Program.  In fulfilling VA’s commitment to care for our Nation’s Veterans and their families, we also strive to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment for current and future generations.

The Energy & Water Management Program focuses on a variety of aspects that help VA facilities become more energy efficient and sustainable.

VA Energy and Water Management Program:  Renewable Energy — Focuses on improving the energy efficiency of VA facilities by investing in renewable energy projects, along with improving commodity purchasing and operations and maintenance practices.

VA Energy and Water Management Program:  Energy and Water Efficiency — Focuses on improving the energy efficiency of VA facilities by investing in energy and water conservation measures, along with improving commodity purchasing and operations and maintenance practices.

VA GHG Emissions Reduction Initiative — Focuses on calculating, managing, and reducing VA’s greenhouse gas emissions and overall environmental footprint through reductions in energy consumption, waste, and chemicals.

VA Sustainable Buildings Program — Facilitates VA’s adoption of sustainable practices by reviewing design standards for new construction and major renovation, project planning/execution, assessments, standards and guidance and certification for existing buildings.
