VA 2011 Sustainability and Energy Performance Scorecard Released
June 15, 2012
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) recognizes that when conducting its primary mission, to care for our Nation’s Veterans and their families, it has a responsibility to ensure a healthy and sustainable environment for current and future generations. Under Executive Order 13514, President Obama directed Federal agencies to lead by example in clean energy and to meet a range of energy, water, pollution, and waste reduction targets. As part of its ongoing commitment to make government more efficient and transparent, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has released its fiscal year 2011 scorecard on sustainability and energy performance. VA is committed to build on our successes and address areas that need improvement. This scorecard helps VA to identify and track the best opportunities to reduce pollution, improve efficiency, and cut costs. Last year was the first time that the Department released the scorecard to the public. VA is using those results as benchmarks and has incorporated them into its Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan. The fiscal year 2010 scorecard results can be found online.
